I haven't visited the Mauritius region yet.
? Ariel Fuchs
Sugar cane plantations take up 90% of the arable land. From the coast to the mountains in the centre, the long green shoots conceal the rest of the landscape from March to September. The roads look like trenches in the middle of the plantations. After harvest, the island unveils its strange shape rocky peaks. Another idiosyncratic feature of the islands is that the fields on volcanic soil abound in black stones. Piled up, they form 33 ft high heaps.
