Buzzing shopping centres or small fishermen's villages transformed into lively tourist sea resorts, Mauritian towns, like the island itself, are surprising and varied. Port-Louis, the capital city, is unquestionably worth a visit. However, Grand-Baie or Mahebourg are better for spending a bit more time and enjoying a mixed atmosphere of traditional fishing boats and souvenir shops.
