Grande Terre - Mamoudzou

Grande Terre - Mamoudzou Grande Terre - Mamoudzou Mamoudzou is a pleasant little seaside town, notably playing host to a particularly busy market where you'll find some wonderful arts and crafts products for sale. © Claude Pavard - Hoa-Qui

Located on the north-east part of Grande Terre, Mamoudzou is by far the largest city in Mayotte, with 31,000 inhabitants. Make a visit to the handicraft district a priority, it is close to Commerce street. Some pretty Creole houses shelter shops specialized in wickerwork and jewellery. Then go to the Governor's old house to enjoy the panorama over the lagoon. Then finish with a walk on the sea front. Go to the very lively Barge Roundabout, and carry on towards Pointe Mahabou, where you will find a pleasant botanical garden, as well as a panoramic viewpoint.
