Washed by the Pacific Ocean to the wst and the Caribbean sea to the est, Mexico has important climate variations. The nights are cool and the days scorching hot on the high northern semi-desert plateaus, of an average altitude of 6,560 feet. They are better visited in March, April and May. The climate is pleasant all year long in the central area, except during the rain season, from June to September. Further south, the states of Chiapas, Oaxaca and Campeche average day time temperatures of 25°C but it can sometimes be cool and foggy in the mountains of Chiapas by day and by night. Don't plan a holiday during rain season, between May and September.
