In the state of Mexico, two sites are evidence, in their own way, of the Spanish conquest's deeply rooted Christian influence: the Jesuit monastery of Tepotzotlán for example (end of the 17th century) which houses one of the most beautiful museums of liturgical art in Latin America, and the fortified monastery of Acolman, the first founded in New-Spain by the Augustinian monks in 1539.
