Back to back with thick jungle, Palenque is one of the most fascinating Maya sites of Mexico. Palenque is renowned especially for its Temple of Inscriptions. It is an elegant pyramid, in the bottom of which a treasure was discovered, now displayed at the Anthropology Museum of Mexico City. Although a dozen temples now make up a fascinating archaeological tour, a great part of the antique city remains buried under a shroud of greenery.
