Several activities are organised. Day trips allow you either to get to know the descendants of the Maya in their village in the jungle, go to visit archaeological sites (Coba's is usually offered) or go down into the famous ?cenotes' - the underground rivers dug through the limestone (because of its porosity). A piece of advice: the Tyrolean traverse crossings and abseiling into the fresh-water caves have to be organized by registered companies for obvious safety reasons; ?Alltournative' is a well-known company in the area. You may prefer (but it's more expensive) to go on a quad tour (four-wheel motorcycle) organized by a hotel for two to six hours. This more sporty option (there are potholes on the mud-trails) is also more expensive, but it has the advantage of being personalized. You can go on your own or just two of you, unlike the first option done as part of a group but you must be lead by a guide in the ?selva' (jungle).
