Natural springs Natural beauty adored by tourists. © Office de Tourisme du Mexique
Continental Mexico abounds in waterfalls, rivers and natural springs which you see in the states of Oaxaca, Veracruz and Chiapas. More precisely, the region of Chiapas holds a special reserve of the biosphere famous for its valleys and rivers: Agua Azul, Shumulja and Tulija. Their tributaries form gigantic clear blue waterfalls, symbol of the reserve. Two major attractions: the cruises on the rivers Shulmulha and Paxilha. The latter boasts the famous waterfall of Chenhuala-Bolotina, 330 feet high, which forms the two waterfalls of Agua Azul and Bolon Ajua on different levels. In this reserve, travellers can hike in the mountain or in the jungle, by bicycle or on horse back. The archaeological zones of the region - Palenque, Yaxchilan and Bonampak, are nestled within this magnificent scenery.
