  • Tulum

Tulum is a small fortified Mayan town from the 10th century, built facing the sea and still inhabited when the conquistadors arrived. Mayan religious ceremonies were supposedly performed there until 1960. Around El castillo (the castle), inside several buildings, you will see frescoes and stucco bas-relief representing divine figures such as in Templo del Dios Descendante, and Templo de los Frescos.
