Uxmal, 45 miles south of Merida, is the legacy of the Puuc style and its complex decorations. Cuadrangulo de las Monjas has four long buildings to show for, adorned with geometric patterns and masks. You should also see the Piramide del Adivino with its oval base, and the Palacio del Gobernador, a sacrificial altar overlooked by a jaguar. From the top of the pyramid, you will see a panorama of the whole site that you will never forget.
