The town of Budva is an exceptional site on the Adriatic coast and one of the oldest towns around the Mediterranean Sea. The ramparts date back to the 15th century. The old town is made up of small squares and narrow lanes. Greek and Roman necropoleis were uncovered not far from the town centre, concealing gold and silver jewels, clay jars and ceramics. Saint Ivan's church (7th century), Santa Maria de Punta's benedictine monastery and the church of the Holy Trinity are also worth a visit. The ramparts and towers protecting the old town serve as decor for Budva-Grad drama festival.
