Traditions and customs
Most of the Montenegrin festivals and traditions are linked to religious celebrations, such as Orthodox Christmas and Good Friday. However, during the month of May Lilac Day is also celebrated, a tradition linked to the Middle Ages that is commemorated in honour of Helen of Anjou. It is a well-known celebration that attracts large numbers of tourists.
