The Middle Atlas is a desert region full of charm and surprise where still few tourists venture. Bordered by the cities of Fez and Meknes, it is essentially inhabited by Berber tribes. Further south, the High Atlas spreads from the Atlantic plains to the Algerian border. It is dominated on its western side by Mount Toubkal, the highest peak of Northern Africa.
