In Morocco, traditional dances regulate the lives of the various tribes. The Gnaouas try to outdo one another in acrobatics to the frenetic rhythms of Essaouira. The Guedra, a female dancer fully shrouded in a black veil, weaves her fingers in a dance of enchantment. This is a tradition reproduced on Mondays, the day of the souk at Guelmin, 125 miles south of Agadir. The Al Aïta (a rustic traditional music) can be heard drifting from the Moussems and popular celebrations.
