Grande Terre - Koné Koné is just as rural as Bourail and has roughly the same number of inhabitants but is a more diverse town. It makes an interesting destination for those interested in checking out the view points in the surrounding area and local arts and crafts. © Belal
Koné is located 165 miles west of Nouméa. This picturesque little town is an important handicraft centre. The basketry workshop lets you see the workers plaiting the reed stems, but also the coconut leaves; they make baskets, trays and hats. Koné's surroundings are also worth exploring. East of the city, you will discover Baie des Jardins, a pleasant little fishermen's village. In the north, the peak of Koné stands at an altitude of 774 ft. The panorama from the summit is splendid.
