One of Lifou's most beautiful beaches is in Luengoni, 16 miles south from Wé. The site, lined with coconut trees, is splendid and is the ideal lagoon for snorkelling. In Luengoni, you should also visit the caves forming several halls filled with water. There you see stalactites, fossilised sea shells and transparent fish. The north coast is also superb. Do not miss out on the Jokin cliffs, towering at 130 ft, and the Devil's caves, located near cape Bernadin. You have to go with a guide; you will discover the mystery of the caves in Caledonian culture. It is the place where spirits and the Devil take shelter at night.
