North Island - The Coromandel peninsula Fishing is prohibited on the peninsula's coasts, but the scenery will help those who wanted to practice this activity soon forget! © Vivianne Riviere
One of the most picturesque coastlines is located along Coromandel peninsula, on North Island. With Thames for departure point, the road is a succession of creeks and rocky promontories. Then, go across the peninsula to explore the East coast. Whitianga is set at the far end of a well-sheltered bay : you can organize a big game fishing outing or walk along the great beach. Further down, Hahei is a pleasant coastal town with another very beautiful beach. Hahei sea depths are protected : fishing is prohibited, but if you dive, you will discover particularly varied underwater wildlife.
