You can take home some very beautiful hand-knitted jumpers, woollen jackets and sheepskin rugs. Suede clothing and leather items are excellent quality. Think also of the Maori handicraft : you will find surprising wood carving, as well as greenstone jewels (local jade). If you want a good overview of Maori handicraft, go to Maori Arts and Crafts Institute in Rotorua. Shops are open from 9 am to 5 pm on week days.
