A recent survey conducted by Moneycorp in collaboration with Snow Finders (a ski holiday specialist) has revealed that European ski resorts will provide the best value for holidaymakers this winter due to a weak Euro and increased competition between resorts during difficult financial times.
The report found that the price of skiing essentials regularly bought on holiday has decreased by 5.7 percent in comparison with last year's prices of the same items. The best value destination was Bulgaria, with the average shopping basket of skiing goodies there costing £248.70 per person. The biggest price difference compared with last year was to be found in Switzerland, where the price of skiing items has dropped by 14.7 percent.
Whilst travellers to Europe will therefore be pleasantly surprised when purchasing their skiing gear, those visiting the United States and Canada will see price increases in comparison with last winter. These two destinations also proved to be the most expensive overall, with a shopping basket of skiing essentials costing £638.58 in Canada and £703.59 in the US.
