Flights cut between London & Cape Town

South African Airways (SAA) is scrapping its direct flights between Cape Town and London due to a lack of demand. The route has been in operation for over ten years. However, in August the only remaining flight to the UK will be between Heathrow and Johannesburg. This will be from terminal 1, as was the case with the Cape Town flights.

Therefore passengers wanting to go to London from Cape Town will have to fly via Johannesburg.

SAA points out that the market has shrunk over the last three years, due to factors such as increased APD and the introduction of a £52 visa fee for South Africans travelling to the UK.
