Iceland Express adds another route

Iceland Express adds another route 23/09/2009

The Icelandic low-cost airline announced yesterday that it is to add a new service from London Gatwick to the northern city of Akureyri. The new flights will start from June 2010 and come not long after the carrier launched routes from Birmingham International Airport. Flights will be on a weekly basis and will operate during the summer season only. The city offers an alternative to the usual Icelandic city break in Reykjavik.

CEO of Iceland Express, Matthias Imsland commented: "Iceland continues to be a popular destination for British holidaymakers, as it offers a unique holiday for a wallet-friendly price. Due to the increasing popularity, we wanted to give our customers further selection for travel around Iceland. Akureyri is a fabulous addition, with its combination of breathtaking nature and lively university town atmosphere. The British pound continues its strong exchange rate to the krona, creating a 40 per cent saving for Brits."
