Emirates has announced Dakar, the capital of Senegal, as the airline's 106th international destination, with direct flights starting the 1st of September.
This follows recent announcements that Tokyo, Amsterdam, Prague and Madrid are among the new routes planned for 2010.
The Dakar service will be offered five times a week.
Meanwhile, China Airlines is introducing a non-stop flight from London to Taipei in Taiwan.
The airline will fly the new route three times a week from the 28th of March.
It is the first time the UK has been connected to Taiwan by direct flights.
