The northern city of Sheffield has been announced as the venue for this year's Radio 5 Live Octoberfest.
The city, famous for its copious music festivals and other cultural events, will host the free three-day festival from 11 to 13 October in collaboration with Radio 5 Live and Radio Sheffield.
Events are set to include an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most players in a five-a-side football match - 5 live Aside - as well as news and sports programmes, audience debates and interactive outdoor activities.
Tudor Square and the Crucible and Lyceum theatres are on hand to host the events. Big names from the national radio station will be broadcasting live from Sheffield, including Colin Murray - judge of popular sports punditry show 'Fighting Talk' - along with Robbie Savage and Jason Roberts hosting 606, the UK's biggest football phone-in.
It is the third year that Radio 5 Live has staged the event, and station controller Adrian Van Klaveren claims that this year, 'it's more ambitious than ever before'. Children's channels Cbeebies and CBBC will also be joining the schedule, as well as Radio 3 and Radio 6 Music, to provide a wide range of programmes and activities for children and adults alike.
Sheffield Hallam University's media students will also be running an 'Igloo' in Tudor Square, where youngsters can get involved and have a go at being a radio presenter, football commentator or weather presenter.
