Ireland and its people invite you to The Gathering 2013, a collection of events throughout next year in Ireland which celebrate Irish identity.

Described as a 'powerful grass-roots movement', The Gathering will attempt to reconnect those who have a link with Ireland to the Emerald Isle in a celebration of its global community.

There will be a range of events, commemorating Irish music, art, literature, dance, culture, heritage, sport, film and food. Take your pick from St Patrick's Festival, the Galway Arts Festival, the Wexford Opera Festival and Cork International Choral Festival.

Niall Gibbons, chief executive of, Tourism Ireland, said: "Millions of people in Great Britain have family links with Ireland and this week Minister Ring is helping us to reach out to those people to encourage them to come home for The Gathering Ireland 2013 and what promises to be a truly special year."

The Gathering will be Ireland's biggest ever tourism initiative.
