The exhibition for Travel Photographer of the Year opens 22 June at the Royal Geographical Society in London and runs until 19 August.

The photographs on show will be the winners of 2011 and opening hours are 9:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Saturday, and 10:00am - 4:00pm on Sundays. Entrance is free.

The competition is open to photographers from any country in the world, amateur or professional, and was founded in 2003 by Chris Coe and Karen Coe. Each year photographers from about 90 countries participate and the competition has fast become one of the world's most prestigious photography awards.

The founders of the awards describe their initial aim: "We wanted to show the world that travel photography can be much, much more than pretty postcard images in the media or holiday company brochure shots. That travel photography encompasses many different subjects, from landscape to food, from architecture to people and from reportage to wildlife."
