Nicaragua is a land of poets, and poetry makes its presence felt throughout the country. Ruben Dario, the country's most famous poet and founder of the modernism movement in Latin America, was even awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Music and dance are also central components in the lives of the Nicaraguan people, and the marimba is the national instrument.
