At the gates of the desert, the old districts of Agadez display typically Sudanese architecture, enhanced by Hausa decorations such as its 16th century Great Mosque and red and ochre houses, with façades embellished with relief designs that you will discover as you walk on its sandy alleyways. Its Main Market is quite modern, but you will find many other booths and workshops where you can buy local handicraft.
