The Bororo Fulani nomads prove to be one of the most interesting ethnic groups in Niger. They move to the Sahel plains for their cattle to graze in the summer and have only branch huts for shelter. Similar to the Masais in Kenya, they are generally very tall and beautiful people. Their life style is ruled by very strict codes, which owed them the nickname of "taboo people". For the Gerewol ceremony which takes place near In Gall, after the rain season in autumn, young women and men make up their face and adorn themselves with magnificent costumes and jewels for a real beauty contest. This is how the young ladies choose their partners.
