Kano, the Hausa's old capital city, is West Africa's oldest city. It is over one thousand years old and holds fascinating architectural heritage, more specifically in its Muslim district. Located in the South of the city, Gida Dan Hausa, a blend of Arabic and Hausan influences, is a remarkable building, where the first British administrator lived. The architecture of the Gidan Makama museum, dating from the 15th century, is also interesting. The building, fully restored, houses a collection of historic photographs of the city. Kurmi market is one of the largest in Africa and one of the main attractions of the city and is where you can find the work of artisans specialising in gold, silver and bronze.
