The month of the family holiday is upon us. The kids have broken up from school and are, as usual, running riot and demanding constant attention and entertainment. And as the date of departure for that yearly family expedition looms ever closer, you wouldn't be alone in dreading the long car journeys and difficult flights, or constantly repeating either to yourself or those around you, 'How on earth do we get the kids to sit still for this long?'
The solution however, presents itself in the form of this great audio book for kids. Available from Harper Collins for a very reasonable price and written (and read) by the brilliant David Walliams, this tale will have the kids entertained wherever your travels may take you this summer.
As Walliams latest release, the constantly engaging storyline does not disappoint and will most likely have you rushing to buy his others. It sees Ben, the hero of the story, go to stay with who he thinks is the most boring Grandma in the world. However, all is not exactly as he expects it to be, with his cabbage soup-eating Granny taking him on a whirlwind adventure in an attempt to rob the crown jewels. With an important message squeezed in there for good measure, Walliams combines laughs with some more emotional bits and at points it really is a struggle to hold back the tears!
Guaranteed to delight adults and children alike, those journeys you've been dreading will be over in no time and you'll be set to enjoy your week or two in the sun. It just might be worth getting another one for the way back.
