The heavenly San Blas archipelago gathers 378 islands organised as an autonomous province by the inhabitants, the Kuna Indian community. An hour's boat ride from Balboa, Taboga island truly is a "postcard" sanctuary of white sand, multi-coloured flowers and small tropical jungle. It is also the refuge of the largest colony of black pelicans in South America.
