Port Moresby's national botanical garden is the place where you can see samples of the various plants, trees and flowers of the country, while the national parks are privileged sanctuaries for lovers of rare birds. Without having to organise an expedition, you just need to go to Variata National Park in Sogeri, a 30 minute drive away from Port Moresby, or else Moitaka Wildlife Sanctuary, near the airport. The city of Lae also boasts a large botanical garden as well as a large park reconstructing the whole ecosystem of the rain forest.
