New Britain is a narrow and mountainous island, covered in thick rain forest. Since volcano Tuvurvur erupted in 1994, Rabaul is only the mere shadow of what it used to be, and most of the activity happens in the South-east now, around Kokopo. At the moment, the volcano still smokes and belches ashes out on the bay, but the situation presents no danger.
