Port Moresby, the capital city, is located on the magnificent bay of Fairfax. The urban area is very large, but the main points of interest are gathered in the centre: the National Parliament, housed in a large building looking much like a haus tambaram, the traditional house of the spirits in ancestral villages; the catholic cathedral, as well as the National museum which displays rather complete collections on the history, geography and culture of the country. You will be able to shop in the very lively shopping district of Boroko, where there are various bars and restaurants.
