The Trobriand islands

The Trobriand islands definitely deserve a trip, as the traditional culture has remained intact. The famous anthropologist Malinowski, who stayed for many years, described them as "islands of love and paradise". Why not try and go at the time of the Yam harvest festival, in early July. The inhabitants of the Trobriand islands are also reputed for the beauty of their handicraft - magnificently carved wooden objects.
