Peru slips into winter when our summer begins. Rain season stretches from November to April and, at that time, it is best not to drive to Amazonia or the Andes. You could get stuck for several days on a road transformed into a mud stream...
On the coast, the hotter months are spread out from November to January (roughly 26 to 30 °C) and the cooler months from June to August (from 10 to 19 °C).
In Amazonia, the rain season corresponds to the hotter months: from December to April with an average temperature of 35 °C. From July to August, the temperatures remain around 30 °C.
Cuzco, Machu Picchu, lake Titicaca are places located at an average altitude of 4,000 m. The rain season is also the hottest with temperatures varying from 19 to 25 °C. From July to August, they can reach 5 °C. All year long, the nights are cool.
It is a good idea, whichever the season, to take warm and waterproof clothes.
