  • The Inti Raymi in Peru

On the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman, at an altitude of 3,600 m and a little over one mile away from Cuzco, Inti Raymi is the festival of the sun, which coincides with the winter solstice and harvest time. The ceremony is staged in the fortress, in accordance with an elaborate scenario. Late afternoon, the presiding Inca orders the end so as to give way to jovial festivities. Every 24th of June.
