Recent archaeological discoveries confirm that in Peru, music dates back to 6,000 years ago. The meeting of the Andean world and the Western world gave birth to over 1,300 styles of music in Peru. Two of them have crossed the borders: « huayno » and « marinera ». In addition to this, comes the African immigrants' sense for partying, which contributed to this musical heritage when it produced "canjon" - giving a musical purpose to a donkey's jaw, transforming it into a percussion instrument.
