The expeditions for the discovery of Amazonia starts in Iquitos. From there on, it is a few day or a few week long immersion into the lush jungle, the real jungle, especially in the reserve of Manu. Around Cuzco, the Incas' sacred valley displays innumerable remains in superb natural decors: green fertile hills covered with terraced fields. On this itinerary, Pisac or Chincheros, two villages built on the banks of the Urubamba river, boast Inca monuments in their surroundings, whilst their colourful markets are a gold mine for the Westerner who passes by: colourful fabric, bright coloured fruits and vegetables, skillfully designed handicraft.
