One of Tahuantinsuyo's main administrative centres, Vilcashuaman dates back to 1100 AD. It includes a large trapezoid-shaped district square, a gigantic, stone ushnu (ceremonial promontory in the shape of a truncated pyramid), temples, terraces and several houses for the troops of the Inca army.
