Standing on the plain of Alentejo, the small town of Evora, surrounded by fortifications, is a pleasant display of roman, medieval and classical architecture. It was the king's residence for a long time and the town's religious fervour is shown through its many churches, monasteries and chapels. Explore them by strolling around in the charming alleyways.
