Hilly landscapes and pleasant weather make Portugal the ideal country for practicing golf. In the south of the country, the Algarve is well known for its numerous quality golf courses, especially around Faro. It is however often forgotten that the region around Lisbon is also particularly well equipped for golfing. It boasts as many as 19 golf courses (15 of which are 18-hole courses) within a 50 mile radius of the capital city. One of the most beautiful has got to be Penha Longa, located in Sintra-Cascais National Park, winding in the midst of pine and olive trees.
