The "caldeiras d'Achada das Furnas" (on São Miguel)

Here, the sea reveals the caldeiras of Achada das Furnas, a type of rocky formation formed by volcanoes, which offer a fabulous walk into the caves that give off a mystical aura with its clouds of evaporating steam. The hot springs are used for spa purposes at the prominent health centres of Furnas.
