We are all guilty of it. Hoarding old currency in the hope that we would again get the chance to spend the rest of it on our next trip. But then the Euro arrived and suddenly we found ourselves lumbered with wads of invalid cash and no way to spend it. Many banks offered to exchange expired currency into Euros or your local money, however this opportunity has now run its course. But there is still one more option. The Currency Commission will still exchange old bank notes from 14 countries that have passed over to the Euro in return for Euros, US dollars or Canadian dollars.
All you need do is to create an account, enter the amount of old currency you want to exchange and The Currency Commission will send you (after receipt and verification) a cheque in your chosen currency for the equivalent value of your old notes, according to daily changing exchange rates.
