Qaçidas (traditional songs), are ancient laments from the desert and sea and are accompanied by the udd (a kind of large lute). The dances are performed at the time of religious ceremonies, for weddings or circumcisions. Only men can take part, to the sound of cymbals, big drums and tambourines; the dances are called ardhas, laywahs and jerbas.
