Special feature Cambodia: Mythical Angkor Wat, Siem Reap

Mythical Angkor Wat, Siem Reap
Located in North Cambodia, Angkor Wat is the largest religious structure in national park is home to dozens of temples that are more or less well maintained and cleared of moss and other plants clambering all over them. However, exploring these temples is no walk in the park! It is essential to feel enthusiastic about old relics of this sort (dilapidated stone) as well as heat and long hours walking! But what a reward once there! There is nothing like it. Lost in the deep exuberant and vindictive jungle, the temples stand majestically against a backdrop of bright greens and blues. Scattered over an area measuring of at least 250 sq. miles, there are hundreds of temples to find as they lay hidden, buried in the jungle foliage. Discovered by Henri Mouhot, described in thousands of words by Pierre Loti and Joseph Kessel, victim of André Malraux excessive love, the temple-city of Angkor is simply part of those mythical places that dreams are made of. On top of the Phnom Bakheng temple, the view over the site is simply breath-taking. Like something out of the 1942 version of the Jungle Book film, find yourself climbing over enormous roots, under fallen trees, swinging from vines...
