Visiting San Francisco today is discovering a mosaic of people and cultures that have shaped and given life to this mythical metropolis. It is said to be the "the crookedest [most winding] street in world." Given the slope, the street could only have been built that way. There are no less than eight bends in this street! It is found on Russian Hill, amidst a middle-class neighbourhood, where in general you will find the city's intellectuals and artists. Nob Hill is known as the hill of the wealthy for all the billionaires' villas that were built in the area. Following the 1906 earthquakes, the villas were destroyed and have since been replaced by luxury hotels.
