Long live the Crab - United States California

Special feature United States California : Long live the Crab

Long live the Crab

The annual San Francisco Dungeness Crab Festival takes place every February along the streets of the city. The festivities, which last all month long, celebrate the famous crustacean and many events linked to the crab are planned throughout San Francisco. Restaurants compete on ingenuity as to how to incorporate the legendary large beast into their menu, which also presents a good opportunity to market California's white wine. All month-long, crab fans assemble on Fisherman's Wharf where there is a tradition of eating crab in the open air at bars dotted along the quays, especially Pier 41.
