Still in the Lower East Side but between Broadway and Bowery and East Houston and Canal Streets, Little Italy is less unusual than its neighbour Chinatown. Of course there are plenty of cafés, trattorias and pizzerias in Mulberry Street but the atmosphere is more concealed. The linen doesn't hang anymore from the windows, the children don't run down the streets and the elders don't hang out in building entrances. Come later, the Italians came here to work with the intention of going home once rich. In fact rather than Italians, it would be more precise to say Sicilians, Neapolitans and Milanese that created as much districts in Little Italy. So cheer up, this is where you will taste the best cappuccino in New York.
