Times Square owes its name to the newspaper The New York Times that settled here in 1904. The daily paper has left but the name has remained with the continual information line still attached to the Times' former building. Facing it, thousands of neonlights advertise the plays and shows performed in the surrounding theatres. The choice is vast and there are plenty of theatres on Broadway (Carnegie Hall, Winter Garden, Booth, Lyceum, Barrumore, Lamb, New Amsterdam, The Lyric?). Basically you have far too much to choose from. To book your tickets, there is a "last minute" ticket office on Times Square. At night, the place looks like a huge Christmas tree with all the flashy adverts and the continual flow of yellow cabs.
